Rajesh Palit

I was born in Chittagong, the port city of Bangladesh on June 24, 1975. I am the last child of my mother Mira Palit and my father Nani Gopal Palit . I finished my primary and junior level schooling at Raozan (an upazila - 32 kilometer away from Chittagong town). Then I came to Chittagong and admitted into Chittagong College, Chittagong.

I passed Higher Secondary School Certificate Examination (HSC) in 1993. After that I came to Dhaka in November and was enrolled in the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET). I received my bachelor degree (B. Sc.) in Computer Science and Engineering in June, 2000.

In summer 2002, I came to University of Manitoba, Winnipeg, Canada for my graduate study. I admitted myself into Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. My adviser name is Dr. Ekram Hossain and co-adviser name is Dr. Parimala Thulasiraman.

Fields of Interest

• In my graduate studies, I will concentrate on the application of distributed computation in Ad Hoc Mobile Wireless Networks.
• Besides that I am interested in the smart representation of Bangla Character Set in the Computer System including font design. I worked on that in my undergrad project/thesis.
• My interest also lies in incorporating intelligence to a system by applying different tools like decision tree, statistical regression models etc.
